The Hidden Help of Glory

I’m sure you have noticed that life has its ups and downs; the celebration of young love in an engagement, the achievement of a degree, the joy of a coming baby, the completion of a project…yet also the loss of a job, that terrifying word ‘cancer,’ an injury, a struggling relationship. Life has with it a rollercoaster of experiences. I know we would rather just have the ups, the joys, the good times, yet that is not the lot of the days God gives us, we are given to face both. Yet in both highs and lows of life God provides help.
Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Jesus is there willing and able to help in all of life
Matthew 11:28-30 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Now sure The Lord can fix, mend, cause circumstances to change but there is another help that give a peace and even joy regardless of the circumstance. It brings a deep celebration to those high peaks of life and brings the light of contented peace in those dark valleys of life. This help is not some special prayer or some secret mindset, it is the simple focus of God’s glory!

Job, from the Bible book of Job had an amazing life; great family, great income, great honor, perfect health and then it all turned very bad. In a flash it was all gone and the Bible book of Job details his struggles. It’s a hard read, but good in that towards the end God reveals His glory; His power, His greatness, His wisdom, and His awesomeness. Job begins to focus on the glory of God…
Job 42:5 I had heard of You (God) by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You;
Job began to grasp the magnificence of God and it changed him, he repented (Job 42:6) from his entitled thinking and surrendered to the will and sovereign way of God.

For you see there is strength in God’s glory
Colossians 1:11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,

The glorious might of The Lord is seen in creation; the power of the wind, the strength of the waves, the energy of the sun. God is powerful and can handle anything. Those who focus on Him will be strengthened
Isaiah 40:30-31 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
To ‘wait’ is to look to, to hold fast to, to gather and bind oneself to the amazing, awesome, marvelous, wonderful, incredible truth of our glorious God who spoke forth and the universe was made.
Psalm 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

Our extraordinary, glorious God is beautiful, august, grand, splendid, and superb…and when we dwell on His greatness the highs of life explode with joy and lows of life settle with resounding rest. That is the hidden help of glory, God’s glory.
Psalm 24:8-10 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! 9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory!

Seeking to wait upon the glory of God with you,
