Fiercely Loved

There’s a strange sense in the air, do you notice it? I’m not talking about the abnormal weather, as we are having a heat wave here in Southern California in the dead of winter! It’s over 80 degrees today and yet much of the nation is being buried in snow! No, it’s not the strange weather, nor am I talking about the political climate or latest trends on social media. Nope not that either! What am talking about is the incredible expectation that wafts into the air each February around the middle of the month. I think you know what I’m talking about!?! It’s Valentine’s Day!!

Yes, Valentine’s day, you know that anticipated, yet maybe dreaded, day all focused around love; being in love, being loved, loving others, expressing and receiving tokens and messages of love. The day has with it mounting expectations that are amplified as advertisements remind, challenge, and even manipulate us into making sure we acknowledge love by some tangible means that certainly includes buying something from them.

In all this we are reminded of love; a love we share, a love we miss, a love we desire, a love we lost, a love we enjoy…and that strange sense is in the air of mixed emotions and expectations. You may or may not feel it, but I would like to give you a different focus, not take away from the day of celebrating love, but to add to it, that you are fiercely loved! Yes you!!
Jeremiah 31:3 the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

God, The LORD Almighty loves you with and everlasting love…that’s a love that never stops, never ends, is constant and consistent. You can’t run from it and nothing you do will earn more of it or warrant less of it. God has chosen to love you just because…it is a relentless love, a fierce love.
Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Lamentations 3:22-23 22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

So fierce that nothing can remove that love from flowing. Even if we forget about it, it’s still there! God will NEVER stop loving you!
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.

God smiles when He thinks of you, and not only that, He gushes over you with joy and even has a song He sings, loudly, over you. How amazing is that. The Holy Heavenly Father, the Creator of the universe admires you.

This love provides belonging, help, and strength…
Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
This love calms fear…
Psalm 118:6-7 6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? 7 The LORD is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
This love heals…
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

I don’t know if you are bursting with love all around you or you are feeling to pangs of the loss of love, but please know God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit love you deeply. Let that reality move into your soul and fill you to the brim to overflowing. Let it sooth you, calm you, encourage you, build you up and carry you through this week and beyond. For you are fiercely loved!

Basking in the Fierce Love of God with you,

Mike
