I was at the hardware store the other day looking for some special gadget-tool-thingy. I was not finding it so asked an employee who you could tell was thinking, and then got a smile on their face and a gleam in their eye, and said, “I got this! Follow me.” Down a few isles behind some misplaced items … and there it was! What was noteworthy, along with the kind and helpful way I was given assistance, was the comfort and peace I experienced when I heard the words, “I got this.” It’s the same at work when we are talking about a project or action item or detail to handle, and someone steps up and says, “I got this.” I relax, I feel like my load just lightened, I feel someone is partnering with me to accomplish what is needed, or taking or sharing a responsibility I have.
Now the reality of life is that there are responsibilities we have and burdens we deal with and things to accomplish, and sometimes we get frustrated, overwhelmed, and worried. That’s why Jesus said what He said in Matthew 6:25-34 (go ahead and read this passage). It starts like this:
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Ok you read the rest, but the reason we don’t have to be anxious or worry is what Jesus said in verse 26! Do you see it? Let me sum up what Jesus is saying in just a few words…He’s got this! God values us greatly and loves us immensely, and we are not alone or abandoned or our need unknown to Him or our issues a mystery to Him…He’s got this! I mean listen to some of His promises:
He will go with you, sustain you, and strengthen you. (Psalm 89:21, 22)
You are His beloved, He believes in you. (Rom. 1:7)
He will deliver you—no matter what. (Psalm 18:19)
He will hear you if you ask for help today. (Prov. 3:21)
Even if chaos abounds, you will experience perfect peace. (Isaiah 26:3)
The waters may rise; but they won’t overtake you. (Isaiah 43:2)
You do not labor in vain. (Isaiah 65:23)
He will reward you. (Psalm 18:20)
If you are called to wait on Him, you’re going be okay there. (Isaiah 30:18)
He will fill you when you need it—just like He always has. (Psalm 81:10)
You will have the things you need. (Psalm 34:9)
God will restore your soul. (Psalm 23:3)
Your reward beyond today is heaven (Psalm 23:6)
He’ll guide you through the rough spots and help you do the right thing. (Psalm 25:9)
Your soul will be at ease amid the storm. (Psalm 25:12-13)
He will keep you safe under His mighty wings. (Psalm 91:1)
He will provide everything—He’s your need-filler. (Psalm 23:1)
His covenant of Love to you will never, ever fail. (Psalm 89:28)
This is just a few, and the Bible is packed full of even more! Yet all of God’s promises and visual reality that belts out “HE’s GOT THIS, came in the form of a baby in a manger, for He is:
Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
That’s Jesus and there is no doubt, He’s got this! That means there is no problem, no issue, no health condition, no difficulty that we even bring on ourselves that can’t be handled by the Lord. That’s why He said:
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Now it does not mean we will be free from all the tough things of life, but we do have the confidence that we are not alone and He’s got this. See, it’s Christmas, He’s got this.
Maybe this will help you a bit today. I know it did for me.
Trusting in God for life, that He’s got this with you,
