This past week (really since July 5th), a team of us have been doing ministry in India. It has been a fantastic time as we have been used of God to encourage pastors and Lonestar church. We have seen hundreds of people come to Christ…sometimes whole villages!! It has been amazing, incredible, awe-inspiring, and an extraordinary experience where we saw God work in miraculous ways.
Like this past Wednesday, July 11. We arrived at our next village to share the hope and love of Jesus. We set up as we usually did …we found a shady place where we could talk with the villagers and went out and invited people to come and spend some time with us. It was hot, and the people were trickling in.
As we were waiting, greeting people, and taking some photos, one elderly man seemed rather animated and very intent on listening and talking to us. He tried to pull away one of our Indian pastors (who was also an interpreter) to talk, but he was asked to wait. We shared a testimony and the gospel message and many people received the Lord. It was amazing, and then we learned the rest of the story.
This animated man finally spoke to our interpreter. He (John or Johan) shared he was Christian, and a strong Christian, who had held Bible studies in his home. Yet, he had drifted from the faith. Some family issues had come about and John had turned to drinking and his life was a mess.
The night before we arrived in his village, John had a dream. In this dream God told him some of His children would be coming to his village tomorrow. When John awoke, he was not sure what this all meant until we got out of the van and started sharing the love of Jesus. John rededicated his life to the Lord. He was beaming from ear to ear. He could not stop thanking us for coming to his village and kept giving glory to God. We went to his house and prayed for him as tears of joy and repentance filled his eyes. As we were leaving he bent down and touched each of our feet and said thank you. We could not help but recall Romans 10:15 … “How blessed are the feet of those who bring good news.”
Yes, God does things like that. He cares that much, even about a little old man in a very remote village. God cared enough that He would have him dream what he did, and then direct our Indian pastors to go to this specific village, and even have us experience it so I could share it with you. Yes, God does stuff like that.
Psalms 40:5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done. The things You planned for us no one can recount to You; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
But this one I am declaring is AMAZING!!
YES, God does things like that, so let this encourage you as it does me. God’s power and love and care are as real as ever. Maybe all we need to do is notice.
Enjoying the miraculous love of God with you,
P.S. Lord willing, we arrive home the evening of July 15th.
